Your Friday Football Fix and Picks: NFL Week 13 and College Championship Edition

Now that we’ve covered the Jaime Garcia trade, I’m going to jump right into this week’s picks…with comments on the games that grab my attention.

NFL Week 13

Dallas (-3) @ Minnesota (Man, that late touchdown by the Vikings got me!)

Detroit @ New Orleans (-6)

(Huge game for both teams but a little less huge for the Lions with the Vikings losing to Dallas. I don’t like the matchup of Detroit’s secondary against the Saints offense and the Lions have played with fire too often this season. I think they get burned this week.)

Kansas City @ Atlanta (-4.5)

(KC has the ability to win this game – and I’d pick them at home – but Atlanta’s offense is just so stinkin’ good. Too many guys to stop, not enough offensive explosiveness for the Chiefs.)

Los Angeles @ New England (-13)

(Does this even require an explanation? It’s Fisher vs. Belichick in New England. If it’s closer than 2 TD’s I’ll be floored.)

Denver (-3.5) @ Jacksonville

Houston @ Green Bay (-6.5)

Philadelphia @ Cincinnati (-1.5)

(I hate this game. The Bengals have been a huge disappointment and the Eagles are 1-5 on the road this season. I pretty much flipped a coin here.)

Miami @ Baltimore (-3.5)

San Francisco @ Chicago (pick)

Buffalo @ Oakland (-3)

(Scary game but the Raiders are hot and I think they get a nice advantage with Buffalo having to come all the way across the country for this one. Still, I think the Bills are a threat. Raiders need to keep a lid on Buffalo’s running game.)

NY Giants @ Pittsburgh (-6.5)

(Giants are good defensively and they should be able to throw against the Steelers secondary so I expect a close game, more of a FG battle than a TD win for the home team. I do think Steelers win, just in a close one.)

Washington @ Arizona (-2)

(I hate this one too. Total coin flip. Washington has been playing better football than Arizona but I’m going home field advantage here and I’m going with the better defense and best player on the field in David Johnson.)

Tampa Bay @ San Diego (-4)

Carolina @ Seattle (-7)

Indianapolis (-2) @ NY Jets

Week 14 CFB – Championship Week

#17 Western Michigan (-16.5) vs. Ohio (in Detroit)

#8 Colorado vs. #4 Washington (-7.5) (in Santa Clara, CA)

(I think Washington wins and gets in to the CFP but I think Colorado keeps this one close on a neutral field.)

Temple @ #19 Navy (-2.5)

#10 Oklahoma State @ #9 Oklahoma (-11)

(I just love the points. I think the Sooners win but the Cowboys have a good offense and this is a rivalry game with a lot on the line. I expect this one to be decided by one score.)

Baylor @ #16 West Virginia (-17.5)

#1 Alabama (-24) vs. #15 Florida (in Atlanta)

(I don’t see how Florida will score any points and Bama has enough offense to score 4-5 touchdowns. The Tide rolls right into the #1 seed for the CFP.)

#3 Clemson (-10) vs. #23 Virginia Tech (in Orlando, FL)

(Justin Fuente has the Hokies playing some good football and Clemson has looked less-than-great a few times this year. I think the Tigers win and hold on to a playoff spot but I think Va Tech makes it fun and keeps it close.)

#6 Wisconsin (-3) vs. #7 Penn State (in Indianapolis)

(The Badgers have been tested far more than the Nittany Lions this year and I think that pays off for them in a big game. I expect a close, low scoring game. Not counting out Penn State, just betting on Wisconsin’s track record.)

Last Week: 9-11
