Bernie is back.
We at 101ESPN and 101sports.com are excited to announce that Bernie Miklasz is coming back to our station in a new role that includes a morning talk show and writing for 101sports.com.
Miklasz is a mainstay in the St. Louis sports scene, with more than 25 years of experience with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He’s also a familiar voice on the radio, having hosted his own well-known show in the past on 101ESPN, and prior to that, on various St.Louis sports stations.
Bernie’s new role combines his on-air and writing capabilities, making 101ESPN and 101sports.com the exclusive locations for his content.
“I’ve always loved sports writing, and I’ve always loved doing sports radio. What I didn’t like was having to choose between them. This is why I’m so thrilled to join 101ESPN.” Miklasz said. “Now I can do it all. Hosting a three-hour weekday show, and writing a multitude of columns for 101sports.com. Being able to serve the passionate St. Louis-area sports fans on two distinct platforms, as a host and a writer. It’s really the best of both worlds. This is an exciting new chapter in my career.”
Miklasz will also begin writing articles for 101sports.com beginning the day of his first show.
101ESPN’s program director, Chris “Hoss” Neupert, says the move bolsters an already powerful lineup.
“We are excited to have Bernie Miklasz join the 101 ESPN team.” said Neupert. “With the addition of Bernie, we’re now able to offer our listeners a full day of live and local sports talk programming. We’re also thrilled to be the exclusive source for Bernie’s online content at 101sports.com”
The move ends Miklasz’s 25-year run at the Post-Dispatch, with Bernie noting the significance of the transition.
“I had a long and rewarding association with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, my professional home for more than 25 years. It would take a special opportunity for me to even consider leaving the newspaper. It wasn’t going to happen unless I found the perfect fit, working for a forward-thinking media organization that shared my strong work ethic and the commitment to informing, enlightening and entertaining sports fans that give us their time and their trust. I’ve found an ideal fit with Hubbard Radio and 101 ESPN. I’m honored to have this opportunity and can’t wait to get started.”
The Bernie Miklasz Show will air weekdays from 7-10am on 101ESPN beginning in late August, followed by the Kevin Wheeler Show from 10am-1pm, The Turn from 1pm-3pm, and The Fast Lane from 3pm-7pm. Mike and Mike will now air from 5am-7am.
