Your Friday Football Fix and Picks: Must-Win for Packers, Seattle Drubs Rams

Once again, I’m gonna jump right into the picks this week…with comments on the games that grab my attention.

Russell Wilson threw for three touchdowns and 229 yards in Seattle’s 24-3 win over LA.

Los Angeles @ Seattle (-16) (Easiest winner of the week! Fisher is gone but the suckiness remains.)

Miami (-2.5) @ NY Jets

Green Bay (-5.5) @ Chicago

(Critical game for the Packers, they can’t afford to flub this one. They pretty much need to win out to win the division and/or make the playoffs. The Bears are a mess but the weather is going to be insane – maybe the coldest game every played in Chicago, if you can believe that.)

Jacksonville @ Houston (-5)

Cleveland @ Buffalo (-10)

Philadelphia @ Baltimore (-5.5)

(I see the Ravens winning this game but I think Philly can keep it close. I’m thinking something like 20-17.)

Tennessee @ Kansas City (-5.5)

(Much like the PHI-BAL game, I like the home team to win but I think the visitor covers. The Titans might actually steal a win here if they don’t turn it over – KC defense is ripe to be run on and the Titans can really run it.)

Detroit @ NY Giants (-4)

(Huge game for both teams. Giants need to maintain lead in the Wild Card, Lions need to win to hold off the Packers – who they meet in Week 17 – for the NFC North. If Stafford’s middle finger was healthy I’d be picking the Lions but it’s not so I’m going with the home team.)

Indianapolis @ Minnesota (-4)

(Same as the two above…I like the home team to win, I just think it’s closer than the spread. Minnesota’s offense is still sputtering and I think that gives the Colts the chance to cover.)

Pittsburgh (-3) @ Cincinnati

(This seems easy and that scares me. A.J. Green won’t be 100% – if he plays – and the Steelers are pretty healthy right not. This should be a blowout. Right?)

New Orleans @ Arizona (-3)

San Francisco @ Atlanta (-13.5)

New England (-3) @ Denver

(Denver’s defense gives them a chance but it’ll get ugly if the Pats can run LeGarrette Blount down the Broncos’ throats. No matter how good you are, it’s hard to stop Brady completely. And the Pats defense is underrated.)

Oakland (-3) @ San Diego

(I’m on upset alert here. Raiders should win – probably even big – but something scares me about this one. Melvin Gordon’s injury makes it an obvious pick but I still don’t completely love it.)

Tampa Bay @ Dallas (-7)

(Man, this is a real theme this week – home team should win, I think the visitor covers. Tampa’s defense should give them a reasonable chance and if Winston doesn’t turn it over this could be a barn burner. I don’t expect the upset but I am on alert.)

Carolina @ Washington (-6.5)

(Wouldn’t surprise me if Carolina covered but I think they’re cratering. Washington has a lot on the line and I think Kirk Cousins tears up that Carolina secondary.)
