Reports Suggest Alex Reyes Likely to Undergo Season-Ending Tommy John Surgery

Update: Cardinals GM John Mozeliak confirmed Wednesday that Reyes will have Tommy John surgery and will miss the 2017 season.

The Cardinals injury woes have started before a pitch has been thrown. ESPN is reporting Alex Reyes will likely undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.

Reyes will reportedly undergo season-ending surgery.

Per the ESPN.com report:

“[Reyes] first experienced soreness in his elbow late last week and alerted the team’s trainers, who decided to wait until Tuesday’s physical to administer tests.”

A source reportedly told ESPN’s Jim Bowden that “Reyes has a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow and will get a second opinion, but season-ending Tommy John surgery is likely.”
