While holding out hope Michael Wacha would return to give the Cardinals some late-season bullpen help, the club announced Monday Wacha is landing on the 60-Day disabled list following a missed start over the weekend.
Update: 101 ESPN Cards insider Jen Langosch confirmed Monday the Cards have shut down Wacha for the season:
Per GM Michael Girsch, #STLCards are shutting Michael Wacha down for the season after he re-aggravated his oblique.

Memphis had Wacha scheduled to start Friday, but scratched the righty after learning the righty had left oblique discomfort according to MLB.com’s Joe Trezza. The club apparently didn’t like the latest developments, placing Wacha on the 60-day list to coincide with Adam Wainwright’s Monday activation and start vs. Pittsburgh.
Wacha last pitched for the Cards June 20 against the Phillies. He leaves 2018 with an 8-2 record and 3.20 ERA through 15 starts.
